lyrics

I think about time long ago – I think about the road and place we’d always go
Laying across a bed up high – above the world safe in that place and you would drive
There was that lake so far away – a place where you played your guitar and we were free
We were just kids you were our world – you gave us life and gave us voice to sing

And now I know you’ve passed your memory lives
on… in a place where I have learned to silence as the
days go on… and I miss all of the happy memories my
eyes tear up… I Still see your face clearly as I strum
on that guitar you gave me …

Grandfather sleep…..

6 th grade was such an awkward time – things were so strange as I tried just to get by
My father left some time ago – You were a rock for me I should’ve let you know
I think you knew this all along – you gave me my first guitar and a song
Looking back everything’s clear – I try to hide what’s been a few hard years
since you passed

And now I know it’s time to close all of those doors
And try to think of ways to put a shining light on all
these thoughts… as I ramble on and lose my mind and
try to come to terms… with the fact that you are gone
and I strum on this guitar you gave me…

Grandfather sleep…. Rest in peace….
Grandfather sleep…. Rest in peace….
Now I’ll wear you on my sleeve….

Thank you for all you gave to us – our family may fight but we have trust
A bond cemented by your song – we will march forward with you gone
I think about time long ago – I think about the road and place we’d always go
I think about the family – I hope you left knowing how much you meant to me

I sit alone in a room with my guitar for company
Yes that one you gave me all those years ago that set
me free - I write a song about the good times and all
the memories - I bow my head as my hand comes
around to A on that guitar you gave me

Grandfather sleep…. Rest in peace….
Grandfather sleep…. Rest in peace….
Now I’ll wear you on my sleeve….
